Indian Hotels: RevPAR Rises 14%, Merger with Oriental Hotels

INDHOTEL
Indian Hotels (NSE : INDHOTEL) Company, part of the Tata Group, is India’s largest hospitality company. It operates under the Taj, SeleQtions, Vivanta and Ginger brands, spanning luxury, upscale and budget segments. What happened: In Q1FY27, Indian Hotels reported consolidated revenue of Rs 24.19 billion, up 15% year on year. EBITDA grew 18% to Rs 7.53 billion, yielding an EBITDA margin of 31.1%. Net profit rose 21% to Rs 3.58 billion. Hotel segment revenue grew 17% and domestic RevPAR rose 14%. The company announced a merger with Oriental Hotels, which holds Taj Coromandel Chennai, Taj Fisherman’s Cove Resort and Taj Malabar Resort, Cochin. Why it matters: The festive season brings higher leisure demand, weddings and corporate travel, all of which lift occupancy and room rates. Indian Hotels has a pipeline of 2,000 plus keys on its balance sheet. The Oriental Hotels merger adds three iconic Taj-branded properties and strengthens the south India presence. The portfolio spans from luxury Taj hotels to budget Ginger properties, giving the company multiple revenue streams across travel segments. What I am watching: Whether the Q1FY27 margin of 31.1% holds through the festive season matters. New properties from the 2,000-key pipeline must fill rooms and earn management fees before they contribute meaningfully to earnings. The Oriental Hotels merger terms and timeline will determine how quickly the acquired assets improve consolidated numbers. My stance: Revenue and margin momentum are both real in Q1FY27. The expansion plan and the merger are the right strategic moves. Valuation will be the harder question given the stock’s strong run over the past two years. I do not hold a position in Indian Hotels at the time of writing. This is not investment advice.
