Jubilant FoodWorks – Delivery-Led Compounder

JUBLFOOD
Jubilant FoodWorks, the master franchisee for Domino’s and Popeyes in India, has quietly turned into a scale business riding India’s love for fast, delivered food. Consolidated revenue in Q2 FY26 grew 19.7% year‑on‑year to about ₹23.4 billion, while net profit nearly tripled on the back of operating leverage and better mix. Domino’s India delivered like‑for‑like growth of over 9%, with delivery orders rising strongly as more consumers chose app‑based meals over eating out. The network has now reached nearly 3,500 outlets across India and overseas, with Domino’s alone present in around 500 cities. For shareholders, this model offers two key levers: recurring delivery demand and a dense store network that improves unit economics over time. Around 70–75% of sales are estimated to come from delivery, which provides data, repeat orders and better control over pricing and promotions. The company continues to add 90–100 stores a quarter and plans several hundred more Domino’s outlets over the next three years, which can compound revenue without a linear rise in overheads. New products such as premium and sourdough pizzas, plus ad monetisation on the Domino’s app, aim to lift average ticket sizes and add high‑margin revenue streams. Yet the stock has delivered negative returns over the past year, as the market worries about rich valuations, rising competition, and stretched consumer wallets. Input cost swings, discount wars and regulatory scrutiny on platform fees also remain risks that can squeeze margins. Even so, the latest results show that cash generation, store‑level profitability and digital engagement remain strong, suggesting that patient investors may still find value if earnings continue to grow faster than the broader QSR space. For long‑term shareholders, Jubilant today looks more like a cash‑generating, tech‑enabled delivery utility than a simple pizza chain, with both growth and risks that need careful sizing.
