Syrma SGS Technology: Riding High on Niche Electronics

SYRMA
Syrma SGS Technology is carving a strong niche in the electronics manufacturing sector, especially with its focus on high-value products like RFID tags, asset tracking solutions, and critical communications that serve industries from healthcare and automotive to oil & gas. Despite facing an 18.5% year-on-year revenue decline in Q1FY26, the company showed resilience: the industrial, automotive, and healthcare units grew, offsetting consumer vertical weakness. Syrma’s export performance is robust, with revenue growing 29% and accounting for one-fourth of sales, signaling global demand for its solutions. The management is intentionally shifting away from low-margin consumer products and doubling down on sectors like automotive, industrial, medical devices, and EV components. This transition is steadily improving its margins, with gross margin jumping from 15.5% to 25.4% and EBITDA rising to 10.7%. Syrma plans to keep ramping up high-margin ODM business, reducing the consumer segment’s share to about 30% of total sales by next year. The company holds a solid ₹55 billion order book, offering about 1.5 years of revenue visibility and aims for 30–35% revenue growth in FY26. Capital investments are also underway with a new PCB manufacturing facility, estimated at US$91 million, partly subsidized by state governments. Full-scale production is set for early FY28, and this could further boost asset turnover and profits. The stock now trades at a high P/E of 79x, reflecting investor optimism but introducing valuation risks if growth stumbles. For shareholders, Syrma SGS combines operational strength and sector leadership with improving margins and visibility, making it a promising long-term play. However, elevated valuations and sector shifts must be watched carefully to ensure these benefits translate into sustained returns.
