V-Mart's Store Growth Drives Strong Gains for Shareholders

VMART
V-Mart Retail expanded its presence by adding 15 new stores in the first quarter, bringing its total to 510 outlets across India. The company’s focus remains on small towns in Tier 3 and Tier 4 markets, where demand for affordable fashion and everyday merchandise is rising. This expansion includes new stores in cities like Varanasi, Jhansi, Surat, and Ichalkaranji. Out of the 510 stores, 421 operate under the V-Mart brand while 89 are under the 'Unlimited' banner, which V-Mart acquired from Arvind Fashions. This strategy targets underserved areas where organized retail is still growing, positioning the company well for long-term demand. While opening 15 stores, the company also shut two stores to optimize operations. V-Mart’s total retail space rose to 4.4 million square feet from 3.9 million last year, reflecting the growing footprint. Store productivity improved slightly, with average monthly sales per square foot increasing 1% to ₹745. Financially, V-Mart showed strong growth. Revenue grew 13% year-on-year to ₹885.2 crore in the quarter. Even more impressive was the profit after tax, which jumped 177% to ₹33.6 crore from ₹12.1 crore a year earlier. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) rose by 27% to ₹126.2 crore, lifting the margin to 14.3%. For shareholders, this marks a very positive development. The expansion strategy in smaller towns taps into a largely untapped market, driving sales growth and profitability. Increased retail space and store productivity, combined with strong earnings growth, suggest rising shareholder value. The rising share price also reflects investor confidence in the company’s growth story. Overall, V-Mart’s focus on widening its reach strategically and improving financial metrics benefits shareholders through potential long-term gains and sustained business growth.
