An Evening Star is a bearish reversal candlestick pattern that usually appears after a strong uptrend or near an important resistance zone. It consists of three candles: a strong bullish candle, a small-bodied candle showing indecision, and a strong bearish candle. The pattern indicates that buying momentum is weakening and sellers are beginning to take control. The third bearish candle should preferably close well into the body of the first bullish candle for stronger confirmation. Higher volume on the bearish candle can further strengthen the signal. If price subsequently breaks the pattern’s low, the bearish reversal becomes more reliable.
In simple terms:
Uptrend → strong bullish candle → indecision → strong bearish candle → possible trend reversal.
