THREETREND RESEARCH

The Evening Star pattern is a bearish candlestick reversal formation that typically appears at the top of an uptrend. It consists of three candles: the first is a strong bullish candle showing continued buying, the second is a small-bodied candle (which can be bullish, bearish, or even a doji) indicating indecision, and the third is a strong bearish candle that closes well into the body of the first candle. This sequence reflects a shift in momentum — buyers initially push prices higher, but hesitation follows, and finally, sellers take control, signaling potential reversal from bullish to bearish trend. Traders often see this as an early warning of a possible downward move.
