When a stock is making lower highs along a downward-sloping trendline, it indicates that sellers are in control and each rally is getting weaker, showing gradual loss of bullish strength and sustained selling pressure. However, as price keeps compressing under the trendline, it often builds energy; when the stock breaks and closes above the lower-high trendline, it signals a potential trend reversal or trend resumption on the upside, as sellers lose control and buyers step in aggressively. This breakout is considered more reliable when supported by strong volume or follow-through candles, and traders often look for pullbacks toward the broken trendline to confirm it as new support.
