AWL Anticipates Stronger Demand Amid Lower Oil Prices and Favorable Monsoon

AWL
Agri Business Ltd forecasts a major demand surge for edible oils and food products by the festive season, crediting lower crude oil prices and robust monsoons that benefit rural areas. Recent government reductions in crude edible oil import duties have brought down consumer prices, with AWL passing these savings to end buyers and expecting demand to rebound from July onward. Market hesitation occurred in June as the industry awaited clarity on post-duty cut prices, leading to delayed bulk purchases and overall contraction in the edible oils segment. Edible oil prices dropped between April and now by about 6–7%, supported by a reduction in customs and additional duties, which is likely to encourage more consumption, especially from July. AWL’s food division saw tempered growth due to restructuring in its rice business, yet, excluding this, food sales grew 4% year-on-year, signaling resilience in its broader food portfolio.
