India’s IT Giants Lean on Strategic Clients to Weather AI-Led Disruption

India’s top IT services firms are increasingly relying on their largest clients to offset the deflationary impact of generative AI and muted overall demand in 2025.

saw faster revenue growth from their top 10 accounts than from their broader portfolios in the nine months ending September, highlighting a strategic pivot toward deepening relationships with Fortune 500 clients. These accounts—often contributing over 20% of total revenue—are expanding contracts to include cloud modernization, data platforms, and AI-driven process re-engineering. While this focus has helped cushion the blow from delayed decision-making and tighter budgets among smaller clients, it also reflects a growing concentration risk. HCLTech stands out as an exception, with broader-based growth driven by new logos and mid-tier clients, suggesting a more diversified revenue model. Analysts note that large enterprises are consolidating IT vendor portfolios to cut costs and prepare for AI investments, awarding bigger deals to incumbent partners. This “big get bigger” trend is reshaping the competitive dynamics of India’s IT sector, with resilience increasingly tied to strategic account depth rather than broad market demand.
