Targets Strategic Stake in Adcock Ingram

NATCOPHARM
Ltd. has announced a cash offer to acquire a 35.75% stake held by minority shareholders in South Africa’s Adcock Ingram Holdings Ltd., valued at approximately ZAR 4 billion (₹2,000 crore). This bid will raise Natco’s holding (currently 0.80%) to become the second-largest shareholder after Bidvest Group’s 64.25% stake. The proposed deal marks Natco Pharma’s major foray into the South African market, envisioned as a springboard for broader African expansion. According to CEO Rajeev Nannapaneni, the acquisition will be fully funded through internal accruals and is set to bring notable strategic benefits. Natco stands to gain a strong presence in Southern Africa, leveraging Adcock Ingram’s established market position—holding a 10% share of South Africa’s private pharmaceutical market and being the top supplier of hospital and critical care products. In turn, Adcock Ingram can access Natco’s robust R&D, intellectual property resources, and expertise in regulated markets. The partnership is strategically crafted to unlock new revenue streams and create operational synergies for both organizations, enhancing their competitive edge in the healthcare sector.
