Norton Revival and Overseas Talent Drive TVS Strategy

TVSMOTOR
is reshaping its leadership approach by appointing senior executives with international experience. Strategic roles are increasingly based in Singapore, Dubai, and the UK, while operational execution remains anchored in India. This reflects the company’s ambition to expand its global footprint and strengthen its overseas presence. CEO Transition: Dubai‑based Peyman Kargar, formerly with Nissan and Renault, will take over as CEO in January 2027. His appointment underscores TVS’s intent to leverage global expertise, even though he has not previously worked with an India‑based automaker. The outgoing CEO, K.N. Radhakrishnan, and the new chief will both be based in Bengaluru. Norton Revival & Investments: TVS continues to invest heavily in reviving the iconic British motorcycle brand Norton, acquired in 2020 for ₹153 crore. The company has absorbed losses of nearly ₹2,000 crore to prepare Norton for phased expansion across the UK, Europe, India, and the US by FY27. Controversies & Creative Talent: The hiring of Gerry McGovern, former Jaguar Land Rover design chief, as Norton’s creative advisor sparked conflict‑of‑interest allegations earlier this year. Despite controversies, TVS remains committed to strengthening Norton’s design and brand positioning. Market Performance: In FY26, TVS’s domestic two‑wheeler sales rose 20% to 4.2 million units, while exports surged 27% to 1.4 million units. The company recently overtook Yamaha to become the world’s third‑largest two‑wheeler manufacturer, highlighting the success of its global expansion strategy. Future Outlook: Analysts note that TVS’s outward‑looking leadership model signals a shift from product‑centric growth to ecosystem‑centric strategies. Partnerships, such as its joint development agreement with Hyundai for electric three‑wheelers, reflect a focus on technology alliances, diversified revenue streams, and international market access.
