This marks a major milestone in India’s indigenous defence manufacturing push. The Tejas Mark-1A is an upgraded variant of the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA), featuring advanced avionics, improved radar systems, and enhanced operational capabilities compared to the earlier version. The IAF has placed an order for 83 Tejas Mark-1A jets, valued at nearly ₹48,000 crore, with deliveries scheduled to be completed by 2029. Aramane highlighted that the timely delivery of these jets will significantly strengthen the IAF’s fleet and contribute to India’s self-reliance in defence under the ‘Make in India’ initiative. The Tejas program also showcases India’s growing capabilities in designing, developing, and producing world-class combat aircraft.
