HFCL’s Export Win Strengthens India’s Global Telecom Manufacturing Push

HFCL
has secured an export order worth nearly ₹106 crore for the supply of optical fibre cables through its overseas subsidiary. The order, valued at approximately $11.07 million, is scheduled for execution by August 2026. The company stated that the contract came from a major international customer, further strengthening its global telecom infrastructure presence. HFCL also revealed that around 70% of its optical fibre cable production in FY26 was exported, highlighting its increasing dependence on overseas demand. The order adds to the company’s growing international order pipeline and improves long-term revenue visibility in the telecom equipment segment. Industry Outlook The global telecom infrastructure industry is witnessing a strong expansion cycle driven by 5G deployment, rising internet penetration, and increasing data consumption. Optical fibre has become a critical backbone for digital infrastructure, creating sustained long-term demand for cable manufacturers. Indian companies like HFCL are increasingly benefiting from global diversification trends, as telecom operators look beyond traditional supply-chain hubs. This is gradually positioning India as a competitive telecom manufacturing and export base. However, the sector remains highly execution-sensitive. Export-led growth exposes companies to currency fluctuations, geopolitical disruptions, freight costs, and intense global pricing competition. Rapid technological upgrades also mean continuous investment in manufacturing and innovation is necessary to remain competitive. Overall, the telecom equipment sector remains strongly growth-oriented due to rising global digital infrastructure spending, but profitability and scalability will depend on execution efficiency, export competitiveness, and the ability to maintain technological relevance in a fast-evolving market.
