HINDCOPPER
reported an outstanding performance for the first quarter of FY27, with consolidated net profit surging 163% year-on-year to ₹353 crore from ₹134 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. Revenue from operations increased 81% to ₹937 crore, driven by higher copper prices and strong operational performance. The company's operating performance improved significantly during the quarter. EBITDA jumped 139% year-on-year to ₹508 crore, while the EBITDA margin expanded to 54.2% from 41.1% a year ago, reflecting improved realizations and operational efficiencies. The sharp increase in profitability was supported by higher revenue growth and better margins across its copper mining and processing operations. Industry & Economic Impact: The results highlight the strong performance of India's mining and metals sector, supported by higher global copper prices and sustained demand from industries such as power, infrastructure, electric vehicles, construction, and manufacturing. Improved margins indicate efficient operations and favorable market conditions. From an economic perspective, higher domestic copper production strengthens India's supply of a critical industrial metal, reducing import dependence and supporting infrastructure development, renewable energy projects, and the growing electric mobility ecosystem. Continued growth in copper production also contributes to industrial output, employment, and long-term economic development. Source: Economic Times No Recommendations
