LTF
reported a record consolidated net profit of ₹902 crore for the first quarter of FY27, marking a 28.7% year-on-year increase from ₹701 crore. The strong performance was driven by robust growth in its retail lending business. Retail disbursements rose 36% year-on-year to ₹23,852 crore, while the consolidated loan book expanded 27% to ₹1.30 lakh crore. The company's total income increased 23% to ₹5,243 crore, while Net Interest Income (NII) grew 28.4% to ₹2,924.8 crore. Return on Assets (RoA) improved to 2.48% from 2.37% a year ago, reflecting better profitability. L&T Finance also highlighted continued investments in technology and artificial intelligence, with proprietary AI platforms being deployed across credit underwriting, portfolio monitoring, and lending operations as part of its long-term Lakshya 31 strategy. Industry & Economic Impact: The results reflect healthy credit demand in India's retail lending market, supported by rising consumer spending, improving financial inclusion, and increased adoption of digital lending platforms. Strong growth in retail loans indicates continued momentum in segments such as personal finance, housing, and vehicle financing, reinforcing the resilience of the NBFC sector. From an economic perspective, sustained expansion in retail credit supports consumption, small business financing, and overall economic activity. Increased investments in AI and digital lending technologies are also expected to improve operational efficiency, strengthen risk management, and accelerate the modernization of India's financial services industry.
