Mahindra & Mahindra targets 20% EV mix by 2027 amid aggressive capacity ramp-up

M&M
aims for one in every five vehicles sold to be electric by 2027, aligning with expectations of 20-25% of SUV sales being EVs by CY27-28, up from the current 8% share. The automaker is scaling EV production capacity to 8,000 units per month from the current 4,000-5,000 sales pace, targeting monthly EV volumes of around 7,000 units by FY26 end, supported by recent launches like the XEV 9S 7-seater SUV. Strategic drivers * Strong H1 FY26 performance: Over 30,000 EVs sold (BE 6 and XEV 9e), generating ₹8,000+ crore revenue, equating to one EV every 10 minutes. * Capacity and exports: Chakan plant expansion for dedicated EV manufacturing; calibrated exports starting with right-hand-drive markets. * Pricing discipline: No January 2026 hikes unless raw material costs surge significantly, respecting recent GST reductions. This EV push positions Mahindra & Mahindra to capture growing market share in India's electrifying SUV segment without cannibalization concerns.
