MANAPPURAM
reported an exceptional performance for the first quarter of FY27, with consolidated net profit surging more than four-fold to ₹585 crore from ₹132 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. Total income increased 34% year-on-year to ₹3,040 crore, while interest income rose to ₹2,998 crore from ₹2,201 crore, reflecting strong growth in the company's lending business. The company's Net Interest Income (NII) grew 25% year-on-year to ₹1,759 crore from ₹1,407 crore. Assets Under Management (AUM) expanded 57% to ₹69,635 crore, driven by strong demand for gold loans. The gold loan AUM alone surged 97.9% to ₹57,006 crore, highlighting significant growth in the company's core business. During the quarter, the board also declared an interim dividend of ₹1 per equity share (50% of the face value of ₹2). Industry & Economic Impact: The results reflect continued strength in India's gold loan NBFC sector, supported by rising demand for secured retail credit and higher gold prices. Strong growth in gold loan disbursements and AUM demonstrates increasing consumer reliance on gold-backed financing for personal and business needs. From an economic perspective, growth in the gold loan industry improves access to formal credit, particularly for individuals, small businesses, and rural borrowers. Expansion in secured lending supports financial inclusion, enhances liquidity in the economy, and contributes to the growth of the broader non-banking financial services sector.
