, a subsidiary of NTPC, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bihar State Power Generation Company Ltd (BSPGCL) to develop renewable energy (RE) and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in Bihar. The collaboration aligns with NTPC’s ambition to reach 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032.
The MoU was signed by Sarit Kumar Maheswari, CEO of NGEL, and Abdesh Kumar, Director (Technical) of BSPGCL, in the presence of Bihar’s Energy Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav. The agreement sets the stage for joint efforts in clean energy deployment, contributing to the state’s decarbonization goals and enhancing energy storage capabilities.
NGEL is tasked with spearheading NTPC’s green energy growth, both organically and through acquisitions. The company is actively pursuing solar, wind, hybrid, and advanced battery storage systems across India. This initiative marks a significant step in promoting clean energy adoption in Eastern India, especially in states like Bihar that aim to modernize their power infrastructure.
NTPC Green Energy already has several RE projects in the pipeline and is expanding its footprint aggressively in regions with growing energy demand. The Bihar collaboration is expected to accelerate the state’s transition to sustainable energy while supporting India’s broader climate and energy security objectives.
