Tata Steel Aims to Double Aashiyana GMV to ₹7,000 Cr in FY26

Overview:

TATASTEEL
is targeting a significant expansion of its homebuilding e-commerce platform, Aashiyana, aiming to boost its Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) from ₹3,550 crore in FY25 to approximately ₹7,000 crore in FY26. This surge is expected through the rollout of its upgraded version, Aashiyana 3.0. Key Drivers: 1. Platform Evolution: Originally a transactional site, Aashiyana has transformed into a content-to-commerce ecosystem catering specifically to Individual Home Builders (IHBs), an underserved yet large segment of India’s construction market. 2. UX & Utility Enhancements: The upgrade includes over 300 curated home design plans, budget calculators, AI-powered product recommendations, step-by-step construction guides, and omnichannel support through WhatsApp and chatbots—enhancing user engagement and planning efficiency. 3. Expanded Horizon: While GMV has been entirely from Tata Steel products to date, the company plans to onboard non-Tata Steel offerings to broaden its product suite and appeal. 4. Growing User Base: Aashiyana has attracted 1.1 lakh registered users, including significant interest from NRIs across 24 countries, especially the U.S., UAE, and the Netherlands, seeking to build homes in India remotely. Why It Matters: Tata Steel’s pivot into the digital homebuilding services space signifies a strategic move beyond traditional steel manufacturing. By doubling platform scale and deepening its advisory role, the company is positioning Aashiyana as a one-stop tool for individual home builders—a differentiation strategy that could unlock new revenue streams and enhance brand stickiness.
