Research Analyst: UJVIN NEVATIA (PROPRIETOR: NEVAT INVESTMENTS) | SEBI Registration No.: INH100009628 Ujjivan Small Finance Bank (

UJJIVANSFB
) has announced a change in its top leadership after Managing Director and CEO Sanjeev Nautiyal sought early retirement on health grounds. Nautiyal, who took charge as MD & CEO on July 1, 2024, submitted his request on August 31 with a three-month notice period. The board approved the request, and he ceased to be the bank's MD & CEO and key managerial personnel from September 1, 2026. He will remain on leave during the notice period and formally retire on November 30, 2026. Who Will Lead the Bank? The board has appointed Carol Furtado, the bank's existing Executive Director and Whole-Time Director, as Acting MD & CEO with immediate effect, subject to approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The bank has also initiated the process of identifying a successor to Nautiyal. The board's recommendation for the next MD & CEO will be submitted to the RBI for approval. Why Does a Leadership Transition Matter? Leadership transitions are important events for financial institutions because the MD & CEO plays a key role in strategy, risk management, business growth and organisational execution. During Nautiyal's tenure, Ujjivan SFB reported progress in areas including growth of its secured loan book, strengthening its deposit franchise, digital and analytics capabilities, and risk management and internal controls. The bank has stated that its leadership development and succession planning framework will support the transition. The focus will now be on ensuring continuity in operations while completing the process of appointing a permanent successor. Source: Business Standard No Recommendations
