Federal Bank Q2 profit jumps 45% to ₹1,386 crore

FEDERALBNK
The Federal Bank Limited reported Q2 FY27 net profit of ₹1,386 crore, up 45.1% year-on-year, compared with ₹955 crore in Q2 FY26. Net interest income increased 26% to ₹3,153 crore, while operating profit rose 35.3% to ₹2,225 crore. Asset quality improved, with gross NPA declining to 1.32% and net NPA to 0.17%. Why this matters The combination of strong net interest income growth, higher operating profit and improving asset quality points towards a strong quarterly performance. However, investors should assess whether this momentum is sustainable and examine the bank's funding mix, margins, credit costs and deposit growth. What to monitor next Net interest margin and cost of deposits. Advances and deposit growth. Gross and net NPA trends. Credit costs and provisioning. Return on assets and return on equity. My analytical view: Federal Bank's results look strong across several important operating metrics. The next test is whether earnings growth and asset-quality improvement can continue without a material increase in funding costs or credit risk. Risk to the thesis: Funding pressure, weaker loan demand or a deterioration in asset quality could affect future profitability.
