Mahindra Gears Up for EV Domination and Global Growth

With SUV sales roaring,

M&M
is now turning its focus toward EV leadership and international expansion. The company has already secured a 41% market share in India’s electric passenger vehicle segment — nearly 16 percentage points ahead of its closest rival. This firmly places Mahindra as a dominant player in the country’s rapidly growing EV space. The EV push is part of a broader growth roadmap. According to a Motilal Oswal report, Mahindra plans to launch 7 new ICE SUVs, 5 battery EVs (BEVs), and 5 LCVs (including 2 EVs) by 2030. With recent successful launches like the XUV 3XO and Thar Roxx, analysts remain bullish on Mahindra's ability to outperform industry growth in FY26 and beyond. Global markets are also showing promise. Exports grew 36% YoY in Q1FY26 to 7,125 units, with rising demand in African markets. CEO Rajesh Jejurikar highlighted global expansion as a strategic priority moving forward. Meanwhile, Mahindra’s farm equipment division continues to lead the domestic market, posting 10% growth in tractor sales to 1,32,964 units in Q1. With expectations of a good monsoon and rising market share, the outlook remains positive. While the overall Indian passenger vehicle market saw a 1% dip in Q1, Mahindra stood tall, aided by a diversified portfolio, aggressive pricing, and strong demand for its premium SUVs. However, the management has flagged rising commodity costs as a potential headwind for margins. Despite this, market sentiment remains strong — Mahindra’s stock rose to ₹3,225 and is up 5% YTD, beating the Nifty Auto index’s 3% gain. With a future-ready lineup, solid EV strategy, and expanding global reach, Mahindra is not just weathering the storm — it's rewriting the rules of India’s auto game.
