IDBI
IDBI Bank's latest results present a mixed picture. On one hand, the bank has made significant strides in improving its asset quality, with gross non-performing assets (NPAs) declining to a historic low of 2.32% and net NPAs at just 0.15%. This reflects a strong focus on balance sheet clean-up and risk management, positioning the bank favorably in terms of asset quality. However, when it comes to profitability, the results are less encouraging. The net profit for Q4 FY26 was ₹1,943.17 crore, which shows a slight quarter-on-quarter increase of 0.40% but a decline of 5.27% year-on-year. This indicates that while the bank is managing its assets well, its core profitability is facing challenges. Additionally, a significant portion of the profit before tax—58.41%—came from non-operating income, raising concerns about the sustainability of this earnings growth. Overall, while IDBI Bank has achieved commendable improvements in asset quality, the decline in net profit and reliance on non-operating income suggest that the bank is navigating a challenging operational environment. Investors may need to be cautious, weighing these factors against the attractive valuation metrics the bank currently offers.
