Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL) and Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) have moved forward with plans to create a joint venture company that will handle long-term maintenance of the upcoming Vande Bharat Sleeper trainsets being supplied by their consortium. In a regulatory filing dated 19 March, TRSL informed that its board has approved the formation of a special purpose vehicle with BHEL to meet maintenance obligations under the Vande Bharat Sleeper project. The JV will be responsible for servicing the trains as part of the long-term contract awarded under the Government of India’s Make-in-India and Atma Nirbhar Bharat programmes. The filing noted: “It is hereby informed that the Board of Directors of Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL) at its meeting held today i.e., 19 March, 2026 has approved formation of a Joint Venture Company with BHEL as a special purpose vehicle for Maintenance Obligations of Vande Bharat Trains to be supplied by the (TRSL- BHEL) Consortium in accordance with the MCMA under Make-in-India initiative for Atma Nirbhar Bharat program of GOI.”
