SBIN
Financial Performance (Q1 FY26): Net Profit: SBI reported a standalone net profit of ₹19,160 crore for the quarter ended June 2025, representing a 12% increase year-on-year. This exceeded the Street's expectations. Revenue and Income: Interest income grew by 6% year-on-year to ₹1,17,996 crore. However, the net interest income (NII) was marginally lower at ₹41,072 crore, due to a rise in interest expenses. Net Interest Margin (NIM): The NIM for the quarter narrowed to 2.90% from 3.22% in the previous year, reflecting the falling returns on advances amidst an elevated cost of deposits. Operating Profit: Operating profit showed strong growth, rising by 15% to ₹30,544 crore, supported by operational efficiencies and higher non-interest income from treasury gains and foreign exchange trading. Key Business Highlights: Loan and Deposit Growth: SBI's gross advances increased by 12% year-on-year, driven by strong growth in its retail personal loan book (13%), agriculture loans (13%), and SME loans (19%). Total deposits also saw a healthy increase of 12%. Asset Quality: The bank continues to improve its asset quality. The Gross Non-Performing Asset (GNPA) ratio dropped to 1.83% from 2.21% a year ago, while the Net NPA ratio fell to 0.47% from 0.57%. This indicates a robust risk management framework and strong collections. Valuation: The stock currently trades at a low P/E ratio, around 9x, which is below the industry average. This suggests a potentially attractive valuation given its strong market position and recent performance.
