TCS Q1 FY27: Profit Up 5%, Revenue Up 14%, Succession
Tata Consultancy Services Limited reported consolidated Q1 FY27 results for the quarter ended 30 June 2026 on 9 July 2026.
Q1 FY27 numbers (consolidated):
Revenue: Rs 72,275 crore, up 13.9% YoY in rupees; only 0.4% QoQ in constant currency
Operating margin 24.0%, down 130 bps QoQ
Net profit: Rs 13,349 crore, up 4.6% YoY; Rs 13,849 crore, up 8.5%, ex-exceptionals
Deal wins: $9.5 billion; AI revenue run-rate $2.6 billion, up 13.6% QoQ
Operating cash flow Rs 12,412 crore, 93% of net income; interim dividend Rs 12
Mid and senior staff then got 60 to 70% of Q1 variable pay. On 12 August, Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran said he will not seek reappointment; he stays until 20 February 2027; no successor is named. TCS fell about 5 percent that day.
TCS [][***** shares trade at Rs 2,325.85 (1 Sep 2026, 02:11 PM IST), down 25 percent over one year. Trailing P/E 16.9, down from 22.8 last October; the 4.7 percent yield includes January's Rs 46 special.
My view: a de-rating, not a mispricing. The market is re-underwriting IT services for AI deflation; 0.4 percent constant currency growth and pay-cut-held margins do not argue against it. The price buys 93 percent cash conversion, a regular payout nearer 2.5 to 3 percent, and $2.6 billion of AI revenue, about 8.5 percent of the base. Income holders stay. Fresh entry waits on two dates: Q2 constant currency growth in October, and a succession committee not yet formed. Levels: Rs 2,290 to 2,325, the 12 August reaction zone, is under test; Rs 2,254 the July base; Rs 1,960 the floor; Rs 2,400 the first reclaim.
