$***** – Panic or Opportunity? Watching ₹400 Crucial Support Amid Dividend Strength & Demerger Hopes

VEDL
$***** Vijay Kumar Gupta | SEBI‑Registered Research Analyst (INH000020226) 📌 My View: Vedanta is facing sharp volatility following concerns raised over promoter-level financial structure. However, the company continues to deliver on earnings, reduce debt, and offer high dividend yield. Structurally, the stock is in a fragile position technically, but long-term investors may find opportunity near key support zones. I remain cautious in the short term while watching for price stability. 📰 What’s Happening Fundamentally A bearish report on Vedanta’s parent group triggered a sharp sell-off, with the stock falling nearly 7% intraday. This has reignited corporate governance fears, especially around promoter pledges and debt servicing. Vedanta announced another interim dividend of ₹7 per share, reflecting a yield above 7%. The company is maintaining its track record of strong capital returns. The recent stake sale in Hindustan Zinc is part of a broader deleveraging effort to improve promoter liquidity and reduce refinancing pressure. Vedanta’s long-awaited demerger into distinct verticals (aluminium, oil & gas, zinc, power, etc.) is delayed but still expected. Investors are waiting for concrete updates before pricing in its benefits. Global copper tariffs and commodity volatility added pressure on metal stocks overall, including Vedanta, further intensifying the recent down-move.
