India’s power market is buzzing ⚡📊
Indian Energy Exchange reported a strong February 2026 performance, with electricity traded volume reaching 12,550 million units, a solid 30.4% YoY growth. Renewable Energy Certificate trading also stayed healthy, with 18.86 lakh RECs traded, up 15.2% YoY 🌱 Interestingly, while India’s total power consumption rose to 133 billion units in February, exchange prices actually declined due to higher supply liquidity. The Day Ahead Market price averaged ₹3.58 per unit, down 18.3% YoY, while the Real Time Market price stood at ₹3.59 per unit, falling 18.7% YoY. More supply on the exchange platform helped keep prices soft despite rising demand. Segment wise, trading activity remained strong. The Day Ahead Market volume rose to 6,588 MU, up 22.7% YoY, while the Real Time Market surged to 4,379 MU, marking an impressive 51.7% YoY jump 🔋 Overall, the data highlights a deepening power market in India, with rising electricity demand, improving liquidity, and growing participation in exchange based power trading. 📈⚡
