NHPC
: Powering India’s Hydropower Story ⚡🏔️

NHPC
(National Hydroelectric Power Corporation) was incorporated in 1975 and is headquartered in Faridabad, Haryana. Established to harness India’s vast hydropower potential, the PSU gradually built major projects like Salal, Chamera, Uri, and Dulhasti, becoming India’s largest hydropower developer. The company went public with its IPO in 2009, strengthening its capital base and expanding its footprint across northern and northeastern river basins. Today, NHPC operates ~8,800+ MW installed capacity across hydro and renewable assets, with major projects such as Subansiri (2,000 MW) and Dibang (2,880 MW) under development. Despite delays and capital-intensive challenges in the past, the company continues to expand its pipeline and diversify into solar and pumped storage. With a strong multi-GW order book and India’s push toward clean energy, NHPC remains a key long-term player in the country’s power transition.
