₹62,500 Crore Electronics Push: Which EMS Stocks Could Win?

Shares of Kaynes Technology

KAYNES
, Dixon Technologies and Syrma SGS rose up to 2% after the government notified the ₹62,500 crore Mobile Phone Manufacturing Scheme (MPMS), giving another policy boost to India's electronics manufacturing ecosystem. The five-year scheme is aimed at increasing India's domestic value addition in smartphones to 40–45% from around 24% currently, while targeting cumulative mobile-phone production of ₹39 lakh crore and exports of ₹15 lakh crore during the scheme period. The incentives will be linked to factors including domestic sourcing, exports, design and R&D. For Dixon Technologies, the policy is particularly relevant given its position as a major domestic contract manufacturer of smartphones and other electronics. The company has also received government approval for its 51:49 JV with Vivo India, which could support a significant increase in smartphone manufacturing volumes. Kaynes Technology and Syrma SGS could also benefit from the broader push toward local electronics manufacturing and increasing domestic value addition. The government has simultaneously been expanding support for the electronics component ecosystem, strengthening the long-term opportunity for EMS companies. My View The bigger story here is not the immediate 2% move in these stocks. It is the long-term policy support for India's electronics manufacturing ecosystem. If domestic sourcing, exports and value addition continue to increase, EMS companies could see a larger addressable market over the next few years. However, investors should still differentiate between companies based on order visibility, execution capability, margins, capex requirements and valuations. Key takeaway: The ₹62,500 crore scheme strengthens India's electronics manufacturing story, with Dixon Technologies, Kaynes Technology and Syrma SGS among the listed names that could benefit as domestic manufacturing and component localisation deepen
