$ADANIENSOL has acquired 100% of Vizag Power Transmission Ltd (VPTL) from REC Power Development and Consultancy, taking control of the SPV created for a major transmission project in Andhra Pradesh. Project value: ~₹8,500 crore Location: Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh Estimated power demand: ~4,500 MW Transmission lines: 1,582 circuit km Transformation capacity: 10,500 MVA Execution timeline: 30 months AESL transmission order book: ₹80,000+ crore The project is designed to supply power to upcoming green hydrogen and green ammonia projects in the Vizag region. Importantly, it also positions AESL to benefit from rising electricity demand from data centres and digital infrastructure developing around Pendurthi–Vizag. Why Is This Important? This is more than just another transmission project. Vizag is emerging as a potential hub for green hydrogen, green ammonia and AI/hyperscale data centres. All of these industries require large amounts of reliable electricity, making transmission infrastructure a critical part of the ecosystem. The project will include a 4×1,500 MVA substation at Pendurthi and a 3×1,500 MVA substation at Khammam-II, significantly expanding AESL's transmission footprint.
