Shanthi Gears Jumps 37% in two session: What's Real Trigger?
Shanthi Gears
SHANTIGEAR
shares have surged nearly 37% in just two trading sessions, with the stock rising sharply after its promoter Tube Investments of India increased its stake in the company.
What’s Driving the Rally?
Tube Investments acquired around 20.65 lakh shares, representing 2.69% of Shanthi Gears, through a block deal worth approximately ₹77.5 crore.
Following the purchase, its holding increased from around 70.46% to 73.16%.
The promoter increasing its stake has been interpreted positively by the market, as it signals higher promoter commitment and confidence in the business. The stock has also witnessed a significant spike in trading volumes following the transaction.
But There’s a Catch
The latest quarterly performance was relatively weak.
Revenue from operations: ₹115 crore, down around 14% YoY
Consolidated profit: down around 15% YoY
Order book: approximately ₹378 crore as of June 2026
So, the sharp rally is not being driven by a strong earnings surprise. It is primarily a promoter-buying and sentiment-driven move.
My View
The promoter buying is clearly a positive signal, but the bigger question is whether business performance can catch up with the stock price.
For the rally to become sustainable, investors will want to see revenue growth, stronger order execution and a recovery in profitability.
After a nearly 37% gain in just two sessions, expectations have risen sharply. The next phase of the story will depend less on promoter buying and more on whether the underlying business starts delivering.
Key takeaway: Shanthi Gears has attracted strong buying after its promoter raised its stake to over 73%, but the real test now is whether earnings and order execution can justify the stock's sharp rerating.
