Why Is $SUNDARMFIN in Focus After Radhakishan Damani's Fresh Bet?

Ace investor Radhakishan Damani and his family have acquired a 2.37% stake in $SUNDARMFIN during the April–June quarter of FY27, after having exited a similar stake in FY26. The investment is valued at around ₹1,160 crore based on current market prices. The move has caught investors' attention because it comes at a time when Sundaram Finance shares have corrected nearly 17% in 2026, suggesting Damani may be taking a contrarian view on the stock. The company remains one of India's leading vehicle finance-focused NBFCs, known for its conservative underwriting, strong asset quality, and consistent return ratios. The entry of a marquee investor is a positive sentiment trigger but should not be the sole investment rationale. Investors should continue to track loan growth, asset quality, net interest margins, credit costs, and return on assets to evaluate whether the recent correction presents a long-term opportunity. Damani's re-entry has brought Sundaram Finance back into focus, but the stock's long-term performance will ultimately depend on its ability to sustain earnings growth and maintain its strong lending franchise—not just on changes in its shareholding pattern
