Central Bank of India reported a 21.1% year-on-year!
Central Bank of India reported a 21.1% year-on-year increase in net profit to ₹1,469 crore for Q2 FY27, compared with ₹1,213 crore a year earlier. Net interest income (NII) increased 26.3% to ₹4,146 crore, while global advances rose approximately 29.8% to ₹3.81 lakh crore. The bank also reported improvement in asset quality, with its gross non-performing asset (NPA) ratio declining to 2.39% from 3.01% a year earlier. However, non-interest income declined 6.1%, and the CASA ratio fell to 44.65% from 46.83%. The results indicate that stronger lending activity and net interest income are supporting the bank's earnings. Strong credit growth: Advances rose nearly 30%, indicating continued expansion in lending. Higher core income: NII growth of 26.3% was faster than profit growth. Improving asset quality: The decline in gross and net NPAs is encouraging. Funding mix to monitor: A lower CASA ratio may increase pressure on funding costs if the trend continues.
