HDFC Bank reports 4.7% profit growth!!!!!

HDFC Bank reported standalone net profit of ₹19,510 crore for Q2 FY27, up 4.7% year-on-year from ₹18,641 crore. Net interest income (NII) increased 9.7% to ₹34,619 crore. Advances grew 16.3%, while deposits rose 18.8% compared with the same quarter last year. However, profit growth was affected by weaker treasury income and higher provisions. Treasury trading gains declined to ₹780 crore from ₹2,390 crore in the year-ago quarter. The bank also announced that Deputy Managing Director Kaizad Bharucha will step down at the end of December. Anup Bagchi is scheduled to take over as Managing Director and CEO on 27 October 2026. Why does this matter? HDFC Bank's results show that its core lending business continues to grow, but other income remains a factor influencing overall profitability. Credit growth: Advances increased 16.3%, indicating continued lending activity. Deposit growth: Deposits rose 18.8%, an important factor for funding future lending. Asset quality: The gross non-performing asset ratio improved to 1.11%, from 1.17% in the previous quarter. Leadership transition: Investors will monitor the new CEO's priorities on profitability, governance and operating performance.
