Indian Stock Market Ends Lower as Iran–US Tensions Push Oil!

Indian Stock Market Ends Lower as Iran–US Tensions Push Oil Higher Indian equity markets came under pressure on Wednesday, September 2, as escalating tensions between the United States and Iran triggered a broad risk-off move across global markets. The rise in crude oil prices emerged as the biggest concern for Indian investors because India is heavily dependent on imported crude. The Nifty 50 closed at 23,914.45, down 141.35 points or 0.59%, while the Sensex declined 373.93 points or 0.49% to 76,570.35. The Nifty ended below the psychologically important 24,000 level and at its lowest level in more than a month. The latest escalation in the Middle East conflict pushed Brent crude towards $95 per barrel, raising concerns about higher inflation, input costs and pressure on corporate margins. For India, sustained high crude prices can also increase the country's import bill and put pressure on the rupee
