Ashish Dhawan Adds 35 Lakh Shares of This Company

Ace investor Ashish Dhawan has bought nearly 35 lakh shares of

RELIGARE
across two trading sessions, triggering a sharp reaction in the stock. According to NSE bulk-deal data, Dhawan purchased 18 lakh shares at ₹232 each on August 28 and another 16.98 lakh shares at ₹237 each on August 31. Following the buying, Religare shares rallied as much as 4.5% to ₹254, taking the two-session gain to nearly 9%. How Significant Is the Buying? Dhawan already held around 5.24% in Religare, making the fresh purchases a significant addition to his position. His overall stock portfolio is valued at more than ₹2,500 crore, and during the June quarter he had also increased his holdings in IIFL Finance and Bluspring Enterprises. But Religare's Q1 Was Mixed The buying comes despite a mixed Q1 performance: Consolidated total income: ₹2,358 crore, up 26% YoY Consolidated loss: ₹47 crore vs ₹8 crore profit YoY Care Health Insurance GWP: up 37% Religare Broking PAT: ₹7.5 crore, up 65% So while consolidated profitability remains under pressure, some of Religare's individual businesses are showing meaningful improvement. My View The interesting part is that a large investor is increasing exposure despite the consolidated loss. This suggests Dhawan may be looking beyond the near-term earnings numbers and focusing on the potential of Religare's underlying businesses and longer-term restructuring. But investors should not blindly follow an ace investor.

Action Construction Equipment: Revenue Growth + Profit Growth Is Worth Studying

ACE
reported Q1 FY27 sales growth of 20.49% and net-profit growth of 22.28%, with profit increasing to ₹119.49 crore. The company is also involved in the construction-equipment ecosystem, making it relevant to India's infrastructure and capital-expenditure theme. The investment lesson is to look for consistency between revenue growth and profit growth. When both rise together, investors should then investigate operating margins, order books, working capital, capacity expansion and cash-flow conversion. A company operating in a high-growth infrastructure sector can still produce disappointing shareholder returns if its valuation becomes excessive, so business growth and stock valuation must always be considered separately.

Akash Bhansali’s Paytm Investment Jumps Over 3x to Nearly ₹1,225 Crore

PAYTM
Ace investor Akash Bhansali’s investment in Paytm has delivered a sharp gain, with his stake in One97 Communications, the parent company of Paytm, now valued at nearly ₹1,225 crore. Bhansali, associated with Enam Holdings, built his position in the fintech company when its shares were under pressure following the Reserve Bank of India’s action against Paytm Payments Bank in 2024. He first disclosed a 1.21% stake in One97 Communications during the April-June quarter of 2024, when Paytm shares were trading close to their record lows. According to the latest shareholding data, Bhansali holds 7,921,162 shares of One97 Communications, representing a 1.24% stake in the company. Based on Monday’s intraday price of around ₹1,546 per share, the value of his holding stands at approximately ₹1,225 crore. The current value of the investment is more than three times the estimated ₹360 crore invested initially, implying an increase of around ₹865 crore. On the original investment, the stake is now worth approximately 3.4 times the amount invested. Paytm shares had plunged to a 52-week low of ₹310 following the RBI action. By the end of June 2024, the stock had recovered to ₹465.20, around the period when Bhansali acquired his initial 1.21% stake, according to historical shareholding data. Bhansali subsequently increased his holding, with One97 Communications’ September 2024 shareholding data showing his stake at 1.24%, equivalent to 7,921,162 shares. He has maintained the same number of shares through the latest available quarterly shareholding data. Paytm’s stock has staged a significant recovery from the lows witnessed after the RBI action. Since then, the company has focused on rebuilding its payments business and addressing the regulatory concerns that had weighed heavily on investor sentiment.
