Adani Energy Solutions Secures 25-Year 2,500 MW Power PPA

ADANIENSOL
Major Renewable Round-the-Clock Power Agreement: Wholly owned subsidiary Powerpulse Trading Solutions Limited (PTSL) has signed a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement with MSEDCL for supply of 2,500 MW Renewable Energy Round-the-Clock (RE RTC) power. The agreement follows Adani Power assigning the rights and obligations of its earlier Letter of Award to PTSL. The original LOA was awarded by MSEDCL in April 2026 for long-term supply of RE RTC power. The contract provides long-term visibility for PTSL's power portfolio and strengthens its role in power aggregation, portfolio management and supply optimisation. MSEDCL's tender requires RTC supply with minimum renewable power obligations, making the contract strategically aligned with India's growing renewable-energy integration. Strategic Significance for Adani Energy Solutions: The 25-year agreement provides a long-duration contracted business opportunity for the subsidiary. PTSL can leverage its capabilities in multi-source energy aggregation and power trading to manage the supply portfolio. The transaction expands Adani Energy Solutions' exposure beyond its traditional transmission infrastructure business. The scale of the agreement could support growth in the company's broader integrated energy solutions platform. Adani Power’s Bankruptcy Bet on stressed assets Pays Off

ADANIPOWER
has emerged as India’s most prolific buyer of distressed power assets under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC), completing eight acquisitions including the recent approval to acquire GVK Energy. Roughly one‑third of its 18.3GW operational capacity now stems from such deals. Capital efficiency: By purchasing stranded plants at steep discounts compared to greenfield costs, Adani Power has added 7.8GW capacity at a fraction of the expense. Analysts note costs as low as ₹21–28 per watt for certain acquisitions, significantly undercutting peers like Torrent Power and JSW Energy. Successful turnarounds: Post‑acquisition, Adani Power has revitalized assets into cash‑generating units. For example, Essar Power MP Ltd (renamed Mahan Energen) grew EBITDA from ₹550 crore in FY21 to ₹1,600 crore in FY26, cumulatively generating over ₹6,300 crore against a ₹2,500‑crore purchase price. Expansion roadmap: The company plans to add 23.7GW of new capacity, with 10.9GW at acquired sites, targeting a total of 42GW by FY32. This positions Adani Power closer to NTPC’s 61GW capacity, supported by advance orders for turbines and boilers to mitigate equipment shortages. Disciplined growth philosophy: Management emphasizes that acquisitions are guided by asset quality, operational potential, and strategic fit. The company highlights its expertise in project execution, logistics, and cost optimization as key to unlocking value and supporting India’s energy security. Financial strength: Adani Power remains the most profitable entity in the conglomerate, reporting ₹12,971 crore net profit in FY26. Its stock has surged nearly 40% since January, with a market capitalization of ₹4 trillion, reflecting investor confidence in its expansion model.

Power & Utilities — Adani Power: Growth through acquisition

ADANIPOWER
received a Letter of Intent for the acquisition of GVK Energy, whose subsidiary operates a 330 MW hydroelectric power plant in Uttarakhand. This creates an important lesson in corporate acquisitions. Acquisitions can increase capacity and strengthen a company's asset base, but investors must examine purchase consideration, debt, asset quality, regulatory obligations and expected returns. Adani Power is also relevant to the current energy environment because Reuters reported that India has been increasing coal shipments by rail as inventories at some power plants declined. Investor lesson: In power companies, capacity is only one part of the story; fuel availability, tariffs, utilisation, debt and cash flows matter equally.

Jaiprakash Power Ventures (JPPOWER) – Latest Fundamental

JPPOWER
Jaiprakash Power Ventures delivered a strong Q1 FY27 turnaround. Consolidated revenue increased 12.16% YoY to ₹1,775.7 crore, while PAT jumped 68.57% to ₹468.84 crore, compared with ₹278.13 crore in Q1 FY26. The improvement was mainly driven by stronger performance from the power-generation business. A major positive development is Adani Power's acquisition of a 24% stake in Jaiprakash Power Ventures as part of the resolution plan for Jaiprakash Associates. Adani acquired the stake along with other power assets, which could provide a stronger strategic backing and potentially improve operational efficiency and asset utilisation over time. However, the Q1 numbers need some caution. The company recorded an exceptional charge of ₹193.63 crore related to the surrender of the Amelia (North) and Bandha North coal mines. Also, operating profit declined around 6% YoY to ₹565 crore, despite the strong PAT growth, meaning the headline profit growth was not entirely from core operating improvement
