Strengthening India’s AYUSH Ecosystem: Infrastructure Expansion Under the National AYUSH Mission

Under the centrally sponsored National AYUSH Mission (NAM), the Government of India is significantly expanding the nation's traditional healthcare infrastructure and educational network in partnership with States and Union Territories. Financial assistance is being directed toward establishing new AYUSH colleges, setting up integrated hospitals ranging from 10 to 50 beds, upgrading existing government dispensaries, and operationalizing Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AYUSH). By submitting region-specific proposals through State Annual Action Plans, local governments can tailor these expansions to address healthcare shortages in underserved areas and improve access to affordable, preventive traditional medicine nationwide. Between FY2015 and FY2026, the central government disbursed ₹64,069.92 crore (US$ 8.66 billion) to execute approved NAM projects, with Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh receiving the largest shares of funding. Beyond modernizing infrastructure and expanding educational institutions, this sustained financial push aims to generate substantial employment opportunities across the health sector. Ultimately, these ongoing initiatives are designed to deliver widespread, affordable care to citizens while reinforcing India’s standing as a global hub for traditional systems of medicine.

KRM Ayurveda ipo

KRM Ayurveda, a prominent SME in the Ayurvedic space, is making headlines with its upcoming IPO, eyeing a listing between January 21-23, 2026. This move aims to inject ₹77 Cr into the company, earmarked for scaling online sales, talent acquisition, bolstering working capital, debt reduction, and enhancing telemedicine infrastructure, potentially through AI/IT server investments. While the company's financials appear robust—showcasing revenues of ₹89-90 Cr and PAT climbing to ₹16 Cr by 9M25, alongside an impressive ROE exceeding 67%—investors should proceed with a discerning eye. The valuation at roughly 25x P/E, seemingly attractive against peers like Jina Sike Life Care (57x) and Vaidya Sena Ayurvedic Laboratory (28x), masks certain operational vulnerabilities. A significant customer concentration, with 40% revenue from a single client and 71% from the top ten, presents a notable risk. Furthermore, high trade receivables, partly due to government delays and transactions with related group firms, warrant close scrutiny for potential cash flow implications. Despite these concerns, KRM's strong government empanelments (ECHS/CGHS) and a positive long-term outlook for the Ayurveda sector offer a compelling narrative. The positive grey market premium suggests potential listing gains, yet a thorough understanding of its intrinsic risks remains paramount for any prudent investment decision.
