Pine Labs delivered strong topline growth

Pine Labs delivered strong topline growth in Q1 FY27, with revenue from operations rising 19.6% YoY to ₹736.9 crore and net profit jumping more than four-fold to ₹19.6 crore. EBITDA increased 51% to about ₹124 crore, although adjusted EBITDA margin declined to around 17% from 20%, indicating some pressure on profitability despite strong revenue growth. The business is seeing healthy transaction growth. Platform GTV reached around ₹4.22 lakh crore, with 2.01 billion transactions, while digital checkout points increased 18% to 2.17 million and the merchant base reached around 11.5 lakh. UPI-related GTV grew more than 80%, highlighting the company's exposure to India's rapidly expanding digital-payments ecosystem. Another positive is international expansion: international revenue was around ₹114 crore, or 15.5% of Q1 revenue, with operations across 22 countries. The issuing and acquiring platform also grew 31% YoY to ₹237.8 crore. Pine Labs has additionally been investing in AI and newer payment technologies, including its work around agentic payments on UPI, which could become a longer-term growth opportunity.

: Alpha Wave Ventures II LP sold 3.54 crore shares, or 3.07% stake, for ₹549.92 crore at ₹155.10 per share. The shares were acquired by nine domestic and global investors, including ICICI Prudential Life Insurance, Societe Generale, Goldman Sachs Investments Mauritius, Morgan Stanley Asia Singapore and Norges Bank. Altius Telecom Infrastructure Trust: CDPQ Infrastructures Asia III Inc acquired 73.13 crore units, equivalent to a 24% stake, for ₹12,067 crore at ₹165 per unit. GIC-backed Anahera Investment sold a 6.92% stake, while Brookfield-controlled BIF IV Jarvis India offloaded 17.07%. Aster DM Quality Care: Promoter-owned Union (Mauritius) Holdings bought 46.09 lakh shares, or 0.52% stake, for ₹350.34 crore at ₹760 per share from TPG-affiliated Centella Mauritius Holdings. Shreeji Shipping Global: Unity Associates acquired 0.67% stake for ₹70.85 crore from promoters. Wonder Electricals: Nexus Global Opportunities Fund bought an additional 1.13% stake for ₹11.55 crore, following a 1.11% purchase in the previous session. PINELABS STOCK JUMPS AS INVESTEC INITIATES BUY, SEES UPSIDE

Shares of Pine Labs rose nearly 4 percent in intraday trading on August 27 after Investec initiated coverage on the fintech company with a ‘Buy’ rating and a target price of Rs 200 per share. The target implies an upside of around 20 percent from the previous close. Pine Labs shares gained as much as 3.7 percent during the session before paring some gains to trade up 1.5 percent. Investec highlighted Pine Labs’ strong position in merchant payments and its growing portfolio of higher-margin value-added services as key drivers of future growth. The brokerage also pointed to the company’s affordability solutions, including POS financing, as an important growth opportunity. Pine Labs currently processes around 85 percent of offline white-goods buy-now-pay-later transactions and has partnerships with more than 450 brands and over 40 financial institutions. According to Investec, rising scale and a higher contribution from high-margin businesses could support a meaningful improvement in profitability. Pine Labs’ EBITDA margin increased from virtually zero in FY23 to 13 percent in FY26, while its PAT margin reached 4 percent during the same period. For the quarter, the company reported adjusted EBITDA of Rs 126 crore, translating into a margin of 17.1 percent. Its platform processed a gross transaction value of approximately Rs 4.22 lakh crore during the quarter.
