Nifty Outlook for 21-Oct-2026 looks Bullish

The Daily MACD Histogram above zero and Hourly MACD Histogram below zero indicates a tug of war between buyers and sellers. The Daily RSI 14 at 47.72 and Hourly RSI 14 at 49.10 indicates a Neutral to Bearish trend. Thus, the overall trend of Nifty looks to be in a range, and thus the markets might move either side. Buy on dips and sell on rise would be the best strategy to deploy for today’s market considering the overall trend of Nifty. We may expect a change in trend only if the price sustains below the support level or above the resistance level. I have provided Nifty Spot resistance and support levels which would help you learn in taking informed trading decisions using these levels and understand how support and resistance levels work in financial markets. Nifty Spot Resistance 1 - 22980 Resistance 2 - 23030 Support 1 - 22810 Support 2 - 22765 Happy Learning, Happy Trading and have a wonderful day Top Gainers : JSWSTEEL, ONGC, SBIN. Emkay Projects H2 FY27 NIM Recovery for Indian Lenders

According to a report by Emkay Research, Indian banks are projected to record a 25.4% year-on-year surge in net profit for the July–September quarter (Q2 FY27), driven by robust credit expansion, solid core banking revenues, and lower loan-loss provisions, despite reduced treasury income. The brokerage characterized Q2 as a "one-off quarter" marked by substantial inflows of Foreign Currency Non-Resident (FCNR-B) deposits, which catalyzed systemic credit growth to 18.1% year-on-year as of mid-September and accelerated deposit growth to 17.3% from 12% in June. Although this influx of foreign currency liabilities is expected to temporarily weigh on lending margins, overall profitability across the banking sector remains strong. To manage the surge in liquidity, banks are anticipated to take about two quarters to fully deploy the additional capital—initially using funds to retire high-cost liabilities and allocate toward secondary assets before rechanneling them into primary credit lines. While net interest margins (NIMs) face compressed pressure during the second quarter due to FCNR-B funding costs, Emkay forecasts a structural recovery in the second half of FY27. This margin expansion will be bolstered by the repayment of expensive debt, full loan-book deployment, and yield benefits from recent rate hikes for lenders holding significant floating-rate portfolios, alongside the eventual normalization of foreign currency deposit flows.

YES Bank’s ₹8,415 Crore Legal Shock Returns

Sometimes, a banking crisis doesn’t end when the headlines disappear. It returns through the fine print. In 2020, YES Bank

YESBANK
wrote off ₹8,415 crore worth of AT1 bonds as part of its rescue. Years later, the Supreme Court ruled the write-off illegal on October 15, 2026, bringing fresh uncertainty around the bank’s financial position. The lesson? A bank’s recovery story depends not only on growth and investor confidence but also on unresolved legal liabilities. One Nifty 500 Stock to Watch: State Bank of India (SBI) — As YES Bank’s former rescue partner and a major Indian lender, SBI is worth monitoring for potential sector-wide implications. However, the ruling does not automatically mean SBI will benefit; the actual impact depends on its financial exposure and market developments. What should investors learn? A banking turnaround can face unexpected setbacks when old liabilities return. Always examine capital strength, legal risks and financial disclosures before drawing conclusions. SBI: Can Deposit Growth Support the Next Phase of Banking?

SBIN
State Bank of India remains an important stock to watch as investors prepare for another week of quarterly earnings announcements. For a large bank, loan growth is only one part of the story. The ability to mobilise deposits at a reasonable cost is equally important. My research checklist: 1. Credit growth: Is lending expanding across retail, corporate and small-business segments? 2. Deposit costs: Can SBI attract deposits without significantly increasing funding expenses? 3. Asset quality: Are fresh bad loans and credit provisions remaining under control? 4. Net interest margin: Is the bank converting its lending activity into sustainable profitability? What matters most? A bank can expand its loan book rapidly but still face pressure if deposit costs rise faster than lending yields. That is why I would assess margins and asset quality together. My view SBI deserves a results-led assessment. I would look for consistent earnings growth, stable credit quality and sustainable margins before forming a stronger directional view.

SBI: Deposit growth remains the key to loan expansion

SBIN
### SBI: Deposit growth remains the key to loan expansion State Bank of India (NSE: SBIN) faces a key challenge in sustaining credit growth while mobilising deposits at competitive costs. **Why it matters:** Strong loan demand supports interest income, but slower deposit growth can force banks to rely on more expensive funding. This can pressure net interest margins even when advances continue to expand. **My view:** SBI’s scale and diversified franchise are strengths, but the quality of growth matters more than loan growth alone. Investors should monitor deposit mobilisation, CASA trends and credit costs to assess whether expansion is translating into sustainable profitability. **What I’m watching:** Deposit growth versus advances, net interest margin, asset quality, credit costs and return on assets over the next two quarters. **Stance:** Growth potential remains tied to funding discipline and asset quality. Margin stability will be an important signal. **Disclosure:** I am a SEBI Registered Research Analyst. IDBI Bank Privatisation Turnaround Reaches a Turning Point

From a struggling lender to a major ownership transition — what could it mean for India’s banking sector? Imagine a bank that struggled with bad loans and needed years of repair. Now, after a long turnaround journey, IDBI Bank is moving towards a potential change in ownership. The Union Cabinet has named Prem Watsa’s Fairfax Financial Holdings as the strategic buyer for a 60.72% controlling stake in IDBI Bank, valued at approximately ₹53,000 crore, according to the reported announcement. But why does this matter? A strategic investor can bring fresh capital, governance practices and a different approach to business. However, the actual outcome will depend on the final agreements, regulatory approvals and the buyer’s ability to create sustainable growth. 🏦 How could this affect India’s banking ecosystem? When banking ownership changes, the effects can extend beyond one institution. Competition, lending practices, financial services and business confidence may all be influenced over time. State Bank of India (SBIN)

SBIN
— As a major public-sector bank, SBI offers a broader comparison point for understanding banking-sector competition, credit growth and asset quality. However, IDBI Bank’s transaction does not automatically mean SBI will benefit. ⚠️ The deal’s final terms, regulatory approvals and future business performance remain important factors to monitor. Bank privatisation can reshape competition, but ownership changes alone do not guarantee better profitability, stronger asset quality or higher shareholder returns. Follow the transaction’s regulatory progress and compare banks using asset quality, capital strength, profitability and valuation.
