Texmaco Rail Explores Strategic Partnership for Kavach and ETCS Solutions

Texmaco Rail & Engineering Ltd. has taken a strategic step in the railway signalling and safety segment by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Belgium-based The Signalling Company NV (TSC) on August 10, 2026, to explore collaboration on European Train Control System (ETCS) solutions, including the potential development of India’s Kavach train safety system. The partnership is currently at an exploratory stage, with both companies expected to negotiate a definitive agreement covering commercial terms, subject to necessary management approvals; no order value or financial commitment has been disclosed at this stage. Texmaco has also clarified that TSC has no connection with its promoter or promoter group, the arrangement is not a related-party transaction, and Texmaco does not hold any stake in TSC. On the financial front, Texmaco reported a 67% year-on-year increase in Q1 net profit to ₹50 crore from ₹30 crore, despite revenue declining 17% to ₹757 crore from ₹911 crore. EBITDA declined 19.6% to ₹57 crore, while the operating margin remained broadly stable at around 8%, indicating improved profitability despite weaker revenue. Overall, the proposed collaboration could strengthen Texmaco’s capabilities in advanced railway signalling and safety technologies, although the commercial impact remains uncertain until a definitive agreement and specific project orders are finalised.
