Karur Vysya Bank Wins ITAT Order on ₹40.34 Cr Demand

KARURVYSYA
has received a favourable order from the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) setting aside an assessment demand of ₹40.34 crore for Assessment Year 2022-23. The tribunal’s decision provides significant relief to the bank by nullifying the tax demand raised by the assessing authorities. The order is expected to have a positive impact on the bank’s contingent liabilities and overall financial position. Karur Vysya Bank continues to focus on its core banking operations while resolving legacy tax matters. The favourable outcome strengthens the bank’s compliance standing and reduces potential tax-related uncertainties for the relevant assessment year. Shareholders and stakeholders will view this development as a positive regulatory and financial development for the private sector lender. **Top stocks in the private banking industry:** Federal Bank, City Union Bank, and South Indian Bank.

Close crossing last Month High Strategy

Close crossing last Month High Strategy

SOUTHBANK
is trading near its previous month high. • This strategy focuses on stocks that close above the previous month’s high, which often signals fresh momentum and strong buying interest. • A decisive close above this level indicates that the stock is breaking a key resistance zone, potentially starting a new upward trend. • Traders usually look for strong volume, market support, and the stock trading above important moving averages to confirm the breakout strength. • For risk management, many traders place a stop loss slightly below the breakout level while aiming to capture short to medium-term momentum moves. Market Outlook – 16 July

Indian markets are likely to witness a range-bound session with a mild negative bias as traders remain cautious ahead of several key Q1 earnings. While lower volatility is supporting market stability, stock-specific action is expected to dominate today's trade. Technically, Nifty continues to trade above its short-term moving averages, but it is facing resistance near 24,200–24,250. A sustained move above this zone could open the door towards 24,400, while a break below 24,000 may trigger selling towards 23,850. Bank Nifty is also holding above its key averages, with immediate resistance at 58,000–58,200 and support around 57,400–57,300. Derivatives data suggests a cautious undertone. Nifty PCR stands at 0.78 and Bank Nifty PCR at 0.85, indicating Call writers continue to dominate. India VIX has eased to 13.3, pointing to lower volatility and supporting a range-bound market. Strong Call writing is visible around 24,100–24,200 on Nifty and 58,000 on Bank Nifty, while Put writing near 24,000 and 57,500 is providing downside support. The Max Pain levels of 24,100 and 58,000 further reinforce the possibility of expiry-related consolidation around these levels. Sector-wise, Power & Capital Goods and Financial Services are expected to remain in focus with BHEL and Jio Financial Services announcing Q1 results today. Meanwhile, the IT sector may stay volatile as Wipro and Tech Mahindra report earnings, while Polycab India's results could keep the Cables & Electricals space active. Other key companies announcing Q1 earnings today include ITC Hotels, CEAT, Piramal Finance, South Indian Bank, Newgen Software, Borosil Renewables, Heritage Foods, Alok Industries, and DB Corp. Overall, unless Nifty sustains above 24,250 and Bank Nifty crosses 58,200, the market is likely to remain range-bound with a mild negative bias. Considering the low VIX and Max Pain setup, Iron Condor remains the preferred options strategy for today's session.
