ARCIL
Asset Reconstruction Company (India), or ARCIL, is an asset reconstruction company focused on acquiring and resolving stressed financial assets and non-performing assets from banks and other financial institutions. Its business involves acquiring stressed assets, managing them through restructuring/recovery processes and generating value through recovery of security receipts. As of March 2025, ARCIL managed AUM of about ₹16,853 crore, with its share in AUM at ₹3,298 crore. The company is backed by sponsors including Avenue India Resurgence and State Bank of India, providing significant institutional support.
FY26 was strong, with standalone revenue increasing to ₹753 crore from ₹596 crore and PAT rising 14.8% to ₹407.8 crore. Q1 FY27 was particularly strong: consolidated revenue from operations jumped 115% YoY to ₹234.7 crore and profit attributable to shareholders increased 54% to ₹89.2 crore. Standalone PAT more than doubled to ₹143.1 crore. Importantly, Q1 revenue included ₹120.2 crore from recovery of security receipts, unrealised fees and expenses written off earlier, alongside ₹92.6 crore of fees and other income, so the quarterly profit should not be extrapolated mechanically as recurring earnings.
ARCIL listed on the NSE in September 2026 at ₹139 per share and was trading around ₹136–146 in early October. Its latest book value is around ₹116 per share, making the stock trade close to 1.2x book value, while FY26 standalone earnings imply a relatively moderate valuation against its profitability. The key positives are strong capitalisation, institutional backing, a large stressed-asset resolution platform and India's continuing need for NPA resolution.
Overall, ARCIL has a differentiated financial-services business and strong capital position, but investors should focus more on recovery performance, AUM growth and sustainable fee income than on a single quarter's exceptional profit.#WatchOutFor#StockInNews#FundamentalViews#EquityResearch#HiddenGems
