DMCC
Dharamsi Morarji Chemical Company, now DMCC Speciality Chemicals, is a chemical manufacturer with a history dating back to 1919. The company has transitioned from its earlier dependence on phosphate fertilisers toward speciality chemicals, with a focus on sulphur, boron and ethanol chemistry. Its portfolio includes sulphuric acid, speciality sulphur-based chemicals and other downstream products, supported by two manufacturing facilities and exports to more than 25 countries.
Financial performance has improved sharply. FY26 net profit was around ₹27.3 crore, while Q1 FY27 revenue reached ₹253 crore, up 98.8% YoY, with EBITDA of about ₹34 crore and PAT of ₹20.4 crore, representing a 166.7% YoY increase in profit. The strong quarter was supported by higher sulphur and sulphuric-acid prices, although the company has indicated that inventory gains also contributed to profitability. This makes the sustainability of the unusually strong Q1 margins an important factor to monitor.
At around ₹287 on Groww, DMCC has a market capitalisation of roughly ₹724 crore, P/E of 18.1x, P/B of 2.9x, ROE of 11% and debt-to-equity of 0.35x. The valuation is below the reported industry P/E of about 37x, while the balance sheet remains reasonably leveraged. The key growth drivers are the company's increasing speciality-chemical mix, downstream sulphur chemistry and export opportunities. However, earnings remain exposed to commodity prices, raw-material availability, supply-chain disruptions and working-capital requirements.
Overall, DMCC's recent financial acceleration is encouraging, but investors should assess whether Q1 FY27's exceptional growth and profitability can be sustained once commodity prices and inventory effects normalise.#HiddenGems#FundamentalViews#StockInNews#EquityResearch#WatchOutFor
