Jindal Drilling & Industries Ltd – Company Analysis
$JINDRILL Jindal Drilling & Industries Ltd is an oilfield services company providing offshore drilling and related services to the oil and gas exploration industry. Its core business includes operating jack-up rigs, directional drilling and mud-logging services, with its rigs primarily deployed in Indian offshore fields. The company benefits from long-term relationships with major exploration companies and high utilization of its drilling fleet, with operational efficiency reported above 99%. FY26 performance remained fundamentally strong despite considerable quarterly volatility. Consolidated revenue reached approximately ₹996.6 crore compared with ₹828 crore in FY25, while full-year profit stood at about ₹210.6 crore, slightly below the previous year's ₹215.9 crore. The March 2026 quarter recovered sharply, with revenue increasing 3% year-on-year to ₹271.7 crore and net profit jumping 236% to ₹45.4 crore after a weak December quarter. Looking ahead, the major catalyst is higher rig utilization and better day rates. A three-year ONGC contract for the Jindal Pioneer, with an effective day rate of approximately ₹45.8 lakh, is expected to commence in Q3 FY27 and should provide additional revenue visibility. However, the business remains cyclical and earnings can fluctuate sharply depending on rig availability, contract timing, day rates, maintenance and oil-industry spending. Investors should also monitor fleet expansion and capital expenditure, because returns depend heavily on maintaining high utilization without excessive leverage. Overall, Jindal Drilling offers an interesting combination of strong operating assets, low debt, high promoter ownership and relatively low valuation, but its earnings are inherently cyclical. The stock looks more like a value-oriented oilfield-services opportunity than a predictable compounder.
