MANALIPETC
Manali Petrochemicals is a Chennai-based petrochemical manufacturer primarily producing propylene oxide, propylene glycol and related products used across polyurethane, automotive, construction, refrigeration, pharmaceuticals and other industrial applications. The company also has an overseas subsidiary, Notedome, which provides additional exposure to the international polyurethane market. Its business is cyclical and profitability can vary significantly with feedstock prices, product spreads and global supply-demand conditions.
FY26 marked a strong recovery, with consolidated revenue from operations rising 14% to ₹1,022 crore and PAT increasing 343% to ₹130 crore from ₹29 crore in FY25. However, earnings also benefited from higher other income and exceptional items, so operating profitability is a better measure of underlying performance. Q1 FY27 remained strong: revenue was ₹288.5 crore, EBITDA ₹96.6 crore and PAT ₹64.4 crore, compared with ₹14.3 crore PAT in Q1 FY26. EBITDA margin jumped to 33.5%, although such margins may not be sustainable in a cyclical petrochemical business.
The main growth drivers are improving petrochemical spreads, higher utilisation, recovery in industrial demand and opportunities in polyurethane-related applications. The balance sheet is relatively manageable, while TTM operating profit has improved materially to around ₹142 crore. At around ₹83 per share in late September 2026, the company had a market capitalisation of roughly ₹1,430 crore and traded at about 8x earnings and 1.1x book value, making the valuation appear moderate on reported TTM earnings.
Key risks are commodity-cycle volatility, crude/feedstock prices, global capacity additions, product-price spreads and the possibility that exceptionally strong recent margins normalise. Overall, Manali Petrochemicals has shown a meaningful earnings turnaround, but the sustainability of Q1 FY27's unusually high profitability is the most important factor to monitor.#EquityResearch#HiddenGems#FundamentalViews#WatchOutFor#StockInNews
