Simplex Infrastructures Ltd Company Analysis

SIMPLEXINF
Simplex Infrastructures is an established EPC and construction company with a presence across heavy civil construction, infrastructure, buildings, transportation, industrial projects and marine-related construction. After several years of financial stress, the company is undergoing a balance-sheet restructuring process and attempting to rebuild its execution capabilities. The business remains largely dependent on large project orders, government/infrastructure spending and timely execution, making working capital and cash-flow management particularly important. FY26 consolidated revenue declined 5.1% to ₹1,021 crore, but profitability improved sharply. EBITDA increased 143% to ₹55.2 crore and PAT rose to ₹40.4 crore from ₹12.1 crore in FY25. Q1 FY27 showed further improvement, with revenue rising 19.8% YoY to ₹290.6 crore, operating profit increasing 171.6% to ₹20.8 crore and consolidated PAT attributable to owners reaching about ₹10.4 crore, up 125%. Operating margin improved to 7.2% from 3.2% in Q1 FY26. The major positive is the substantial reduction in financial stress: the company executed a Master Restructuring Agreement with NARCL, while overdue debt to non-assigned lenders fell from ₹296.7 crore in FY25 to ₹46.2 crore by March 2026. Debt-equity also improved from 4.29x to 1.81x in FY26 and 1.72x in Q1 FY27. However, total financial indebtedness was still around ₹1,632 crore at June 2026, and an outstanding default of ₹46.2 crore remained. The key opportunity is a successful turnaround through higher project execution and lower financial stress, while the principal risks remain high debt, working-capital requirements, execution delays and dependence on successful restructuring. The recent improvement in margins and profitability is encouraging, but Simplex should still be viewed as a turnaround story where balance-sheet repair and sustained cash generation are critical to the long-term thesis.
