AXIS BANK: BANKING STOCK SHOWS EARLY RELATIVE STRENGTH

AXISBANK
Bank is back on the radar after emerging as one of the strongest Nifty 50 stocks in today's session. Around 10:15 AM, the stock was trading near ₹1,207, up roughly 1.7%, after having fallen 4.56% in the previous session. The sharp reversal makes today's price action interesting. On September 24, Axis Bank closed around ₹1,186.50 as the Nifty fell 1.64%. Today's recovery therefore needs to be viewed in the context of yesterday's broad market sell-off rather than in isolation. For banks, the important fundamental variables remain loan growth, net interest margins, asset quality, credit costs and return on equity. Any sustained improvement in these metrics would be more meaningful than a single-session price recovery. From a technical perspective, ₹1,200 is the immediate psychological level to monitor. Holding above this zone would indicate that buyers are attempting to stabilise the stock after yesterday's decline. The next reference is around ₹1,220–₹1,230. A sustained move above this area with increasing volume would provide stronger confirmation of recovery. On the downside, ₹1,180–₹1,185 becomes an important short-term support zone. **What I am watching:** • ₹1,200 support • ₹1,220–₹1,230 recovery zone • Bank Nifty participation • Loan growth and asset quality • NIM trajectory • Volume confirmation Today's move is encouraging from a price-action perspective, but one session is not enough to establish a trend. **Disclosure:** I have no holding or financial interest in Axis Bank Limited at the time of writing.
