Nifty Realty Crashes 4.5% to Two-Month Low on Rate Fears

Nifty Realty fell for a sixth straight session as concerns over US inflation, rising bond yields and higher oil prices weighed on sentiment. The Nifty Realty index came under sharp selling pressure on Friday, falling 4.5% to hit its lowest level in more than two months. The index extended its losing streak to six consecutive sessions, reflecting weakness across real estate stocks. Among the major losers, Godrej Properties Ltd. (NSE: GODREJPROP), Lodha Developers Ltd. (NSE:

LODHA
), and Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. (NSE: PRESTIGE) declined as much as 7%, 7.5%, and 4.97%, respectively, by noon trade. The sell-off followed renewed concerns over US inflation after producer-price data indicated persistent price pressures, partly driven by rising energy costs. The development strengthened expectations that the US Federal Reserve could maintain a restrictive monetary policy stance for longer, weighing on interest-rate-sensitive sectors such as real estate. Bond markets also remained under pressure after the US Treasury bought back fewer securities than anticipated. As a result, the US 10-year Treasury yield moved closer to 5%, while rising crude oil prices further intensified inflation concerns. The weakness was not limited to real estate stocks. The Nifty Metal index also declined as much as 3.15% during the session, reflecting broader risk-off sentiment across rate-sensitive and cyclical sectors. 📌 Disclaimer: This content is for information only and not investment advice.
